The last time I advertised in San Francisco a potential client asked if I would shoot by time not looks. At the time I said no, shooting by looks was working well for me. After a few weeks I thought about it more and decided to try it at home in LA. To my surprise it actually worked better for everyone. I don’t have to stress out about fitting a certain amount of looks into a specific amount of time and the model is not as limited. Shooting by time now allows me to concentrate on making each shot look its best and gives the model more control on how much time is spent per look. Now the majority of my shoots are done by time not look. I can’t remember the persons name who made the suggestion but if you are reading this Thank you!

Q & A
1. Can I have hair and makeup for less than a three hour shoot?
I don’t recommend it. Makeup and hair usually take about an hour to and hour and a half. I want to make sure you get the most out of your shoot. That means more time shooting! The rate difference in the 2 and 3 hour shoot is only an increase to cover the fee for the makeup artist. I do not charge anything extra for the additional time at the shoot.
2. Why do you charge a %50 non refundable deposit?
When shooting in different cites I do my best to provide only the best locations. These locations are usually not cheap! In order to gaurentee the location I have to make sure I have enough clients booked to cover expenses and to of course make a profit. When someone pays a 50% deposit I know they are just as commited to having a great shoot as I am.
3. Can I do my own makeup at the location.
Sure you can, but that will be included in the time you booked. If you are not hiring my makeup artist you will get more out of your shoot if you come camera ready but that is up to you. Many clients go to their local MAC counter before shooting or arrange hair and makeup to be done with there own stylists before hand.
4. Will I get a disk at the end of my shoot.
I take great pride in my work. Giving a CD at the end of a shoot does not allow me to do some of the artistic things that makes my photos stand out. So the answser is no but it’s for our own good. If you are concerned about being ripped off, I have great references just ask. Most of my business comes from repeat clients and word of mouth so ripping you off would be really bad for me!
5. How soon will I get my photos.
When I get home from shooting in another city it usually takes about 2 to 3 days to do color corrections, conversions, upload galleries and send links. You will go through and pick your favorites for retouching. When I receive your list it takes about 2 to 3 days for me to retouch your photos and get them emailed to you. I then immediately mail out a disk with all photos or send you a link to download. Which ever you prefer. However if you wait a while to get back to me with your picks it can take longer. When planning a trip I plan for time to retouch after the trip. If you wait three weeks I may be in another city or I could be having a busy week. In that case it can take a few days longer but I always do my best to give you a quick turn around with out compromising quality.
6. What are my options for paying the depsit?
a) I take paypal, credit or debit cards through the paypal system. Most perfer this method. It’s very secure, I never see any of your personal information. You can pay using this link. http://ilsensual.com/rates/
b) Some clients prefer not to pay online or have issues with their paypal accounts. I also take deposits through Money Gram and Western Union. I hear Money Gram is cheaper.
c) I do not take personal checks.
7. Why do your rates change in different cities?
Rates vary according to what I have to pay for accommodations and travel. In most cases the lowest costing shoots is less than the cost of renting the space.
